The Real Reason I Started Focusing on Nervous System Healing

I didn’t start healing my nervous system because I wanted to feel optimized or super productive.

I started because my body was screaming and I had gotten really good at ignoring it.

After having my son, everything felt like a fog.

  • I was exhausted, but couldn’t rest.

  • I was starving, but craving only sugar, carbs, and caffeine.

  • My gut was a mess.

  • My moods were unpredictable.

  • My body felt heavy, disconnected, and foreign.

  • I couldn’t tell if I was anxious, depressed, or just permanently overwhelmed.

The truth?
My nervous system was shot.
I wasn’t burnt out because I was weak —
I was burnt out because I was in constant survival mode, and no one had ever taught me how to truly care for myself at a nervous system level.

It wasn’t burnout at first — it was busy-ness.

I thought if I stayed busy enough — hustling through postpartum life — I could outrun the discomfort.

All the appointments. All the milestones. All the “getting back to normal.”

It wasn’t anxiety — it was “high achieving.”

On the outside, I looked organized and capable.
On the inside, I was fried — living off caffeine and adrenaline.

It wasn’t freeze — it was “being chill and low maintenance.”

I told myself I was fine. Easygoing. Low drama.
But deep down, I had completely numbed out because it was safer than feeling everything I couldn’t fix.

Until one day, I realized:

I wasn’t living.
I was surviving.
And my body couldn’t hold it anymore.

Healing wasn’t about a new planner or a 5AM miracle morning or some magic smoothie. (But a good smoothie, never hurts!)

Healing was this:

  • Sitting in the middle of my messy, overwhelming life and choosing not to abandon myself anymore.

  • Choosing to tap when I wanted to shut down.

  • Choosing to breathe when I wanted to disappear.

  • Choosing to move when I wanted to freeze.

When I found EFT tapping, something clicked.
It wasn't another mindset hack.
It was a doorway into feeling safe inside my own skin again.

It helped me:

  • Eat better: I could actually pause long enough to prepare real food instead of reaching for another sugar fix just to keep going.

  • Rest without guilt: I could recognize when I needed to stop — and not shame myself for it.

  • Hold emotions: Instead of snapping at my family or crying in the bathroom, I had a tool to move energy through without spiraling.

  • Feel human again: Not perfect. Not “optimized.” Just breathing, alive, present.

Your Healing Doesn't Have to Look Perfect

If you’re a mama holding it all together on caffeine and grit…
If your gut, your moods, and your cravings are trying to get your attention…
If you feel like you’re doing “all the right things” but still struggling to feel like yourself...

I see you.
I lived it.
And I want you to know:
It’s not about trying harder.
It’s about learning how to feel safe again — one nervous-system-supported step at a time.
